What pizza shops need

A pizza shop is a delivery business with a hard menu. Three problems come up again and again.

The menu is complicated. Sizes, toppings, crusts, half and half, and deals that swap a side or a drink. A system that cannot price these correctly sends the wrong amount to the kitchen or to the guest.

Delivery is where the money goes. The fee, the area and the driver decide whether a delivery pays. Marketplaces take a share of every order, and charging the wrong fee on your own site costs you directly.

Friday night is a rush. Orders come from the phone, the till, the website and the counter, and the kitchen needs to see all of them in one place, in order.

The five features that matter

  1. The menu builder, for sizes, options, half and half and meal deals.
  2. Delivery zones and dispatch, with fees by road distance or drive time.
  3. The driver app, so your own drivers get their runs and guests follow the order.
  4. The kitchen display, where every order lands with a timer.
  5. Commission free ordering, on your own website.

A day in the life

Picture a pizza shop on a Friday. At five the owner opens a till shift and checks the menu on the Today screen: the dough for one pizza is low, so it is taken off with one tap, and the website, the till and the kiosk stop offering it. By seven, orders arrive from the website and the till. The kitchen sees each one on the screen with a timer, and a ticket held for a late table waits until it is wanted. Delivery orders appear on the dispatch board, each with a fee that was worked out from the road distance when the guest ordered. A driver takes a run and the guest watches a dot on the map. At the end of the night the shift closes with a Z-report. This is a description of how the product works, and not a customer story.
