Key takeaways
- QR ordering is usually either a feature inside a restaurant system or a separate product, and the cheapest route is usually the one already in your POS.
- Lightspeed includes QR ordering and pay from Core and sells it as an add on on Basic, while Square's restaurants page does not mention it.
- me&u lists mobile ordering and payments by quote, and we could not confirm QR wording or prices on its page.
- Check what a guest sees without an app, how the order reaches the kitchen, and what you pay per order.
In short: the best QR ordering system is usually the one built into the system that already runs your till and kitchen, because the order lands in the right place. Facts below come from each vendor's own page in October 2026; where a page was thin or blocked, we say so.
For how QR ordering works and when to use it, read our guide to QR code table ordering. This article compares products.
What to compare
- Where it lives: inside your POS, or a separate product with an integration.
- What guests do: scan, browse, order, pay, with or without an app.
- The kitchen: does the order go to the right screen with the table number?
- Languages and allergens: can guests read the menu their way?
- Cost: monthly fee, per order fee and card fees.
Options at a glance
As of October 2026.
| System | What it publishes | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Lightspeed Restaurant | QR ordering and pay: add on on Basic (€89 a month), included on Core (€159) and Pro (€249) (Lightspeed) | Page shows euros while its FAQ mentions pounds |
| Square | QR ordering not mentioned on its restaurants page (Square UK) | Online ordering has no monthly fee or commission; check Square for table QR options |
| Flipdish | Not confirmed on the pricing page we read (Flipdish) | Website, POS, kiosk; quote for add ons |
| me&u | Ordering, payments and hybrid products; "Talk to sales", no prices (me&u) | We could not confirm QR wording or price |
| GloriaFood | QR code ordering; closing 30 April 2027, no new sign ups (compare) | Existing customers only |
| DineHarbor | QR table ordering in every plan: £69, £129 or £219 a month per location (pricing) | A table code opens the ordering site, no app |
Lightspeed
QR ordering and pay is a licence option included from Core, and an add on on Basic. That makes sense if you are already on a Lightspeed plan. Ask how QR orders count against your registers and whether a per order fee applies.
Square
Square's restaurants page describes online ordering for collection and delivery, a kitchen display and table management on Plus, but does not mention QR table ordering. If it matters to you, ask Square how to take orders at the table.
me&u
me&u describes ordering and payments for hospitality, with products for guest and server ordering and food halls, across the UK, Australia and the US. We could not confirm prices or the exact way QR works. Ask for a quote that lists any fee per order and which POS it connects to.
DineHarbor
QR table ordering is part of online ordering in every public plan, with a QR code per table that opens the restaurant's ordering site in the guest's browser and sends the order to the kitchen with the table reference. Menus can be shown in English, Arabic, Spanish and French. There is no commission; your payment provider charges card fees. It does not connect to delivery apps.

A small test
- Try the guest journey on an old phone.
- Check the kitchen ticket shows the table.
- Make sure staff can still take an order by hand.

Questions and answers
What is the best QR code ordering system?
The one that works with your till and kitchen. If your POS has QR ordering built in, start there. Otherwise compare specialists on price per order and how orders reach the kitchen.
Do guests need to download an app?
With DineHarbor a table QR code opens the ordering site in the browser, so no app. Check this with any vendor.
Is QR ordering free?
It can be included in a plan, as in DineHarbor and Lightspeed Core, or priced as an add on. Card fees apply either way.
Does QR ordering work without internet?
The guest page needs a usable connection. Keep a manual fallback and test it.
